Columbia River Bible Church

WE BELIEVE

....in verbal plenary inspiration of the original writings of the Old & New Testaments by the Holy Spirit. We recognize Scripture as inerrant & infallible, the final authority for faith & life. We recognize the necessity of the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit.

.....in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons— Father, Son & Holy Spirit— co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power & glory & having the same attributes & perfections.

....in the eternal deity of Jesus Christ the Son of God, equal & co-existent with the Father. We hold fast to His incarnation, virgin birth, & His sinless humanity. We accept His death, burial & resurrection, ascension, & glorification. He brings forgiveness, salvation, & reconciliation by means of His substitutional death— the propitiation for the sins of the world.  He presently acts as advocate, high priest & head of the Church. We look forward to His personal, premillennial coming again for His redeemed ones.

.....in the deity of the Holy Spirit, His personality & equality in the Godhead. We recognize Him as an active agent in creation, inspiration, regeneration & sanctification. He convicts men of sin: indwells the believer, baptizes, seals, fills & empowers. He also guides & illuminates His Word to the believer & gifts him for service. His primary function is to bring glory to Christ.

.....that man was created in the image & likeness of God; but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, & became alienated from God. We believe that man is totally depraved &, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. We believe that salvation is through Jesus Christ and His shed blood alone, and by faith and faith in Him alone!

 OUR PURPOSE

To challenge every person known to CRBC to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and to provide opportunities for them to do so.

TO WORSHIP THE ONE TRUE & LIVING GOD

Throughout the entire Word of God, we read that the chief purpose & duty of the believer is that of properly worshipping God.  Repeatedly in the Psalms alone,  we find “Praise ye the Lord.” In all the of God, we are taught the importance of corporate, as well as private worship.

TO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TO ALL THE WORLD

The entire Word of God instructs God’s people to share the good news of how one can know the true & living God. It is the paramount  responsibility of each & every believer  in whatever capacity God has called him, to  share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unsaved.  Not all are evangelists; but all must be sharing, as they have opportunity with those who don’t know Christ.

TO TRAIN & EQUIP BELIEVERS UNTO MATURITY & MINISTRY

God did not design man to be an island unto himself, or to be self-sufficient ... even in his spiritual life.  We have access to the Father through the work  of Jesus Christ, but we still need each other for proper maturity & growth. Hebrews 10:25 exhorts us to assemble together.  In Romans 12,   Ephesians  4  & I Corinthians 12   we read that God has gifted people differently & that we need each other if we desire to grow into well-rounded Christian people. Through Biblical teaching & providing people with opportunities for involvement, the church helps to develop  spiritual gifts.  When a church body doesn’t function together,  the results are weakness, spiritual immaturity  &  inability to minister as God desires.

TO PROMOTE MISSIONARY ENTERPRISE AT HOME & ABROAD

In Acts 1:8 we read Jesus’ parting words to His disciples, “...and  ye shall be my witness unto me both in Jerusalem, & in all Judea, & in Samaria, & unto the uttermost parts of the earth.”  God has a global perspective in His desire for the Gospel to be shared. He desires for all men to be saved & to come unto the knowledge of the truth  (I Timothy 2:4). This means He desires those from every tribe & tongue & people & nation to come to know Him & to worship Him with all other believers (Revelation 5:9).  We are part of God’s global outreach.
